Gorgeous Jane . . .
jewelry by Lisa McGinty
. . . in her own words . . .
So here’s the story. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved fashionable clothing, accessories, JEWELRY, dressing up and LOTS of CLOSET SPACE. I had an insatiable appetite for the hottest new things and whenever I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I became DETERMINED to make it myself. So I learned to design and sew my own clothes by age 14, I made funky hats and flower clips through college, and in my 30’s came the INSPIRATION to make awesome jewelry. Like the laugh lines on my face, my fashion palette, SENSIBILITIES and WISDOM, have all evolved greatly through the years… which is a direct influence on my design philosophy. I strive to make jewelry that
can be worn EFFORTLESSLY, but at the same time is DELIGHTFULLY UNEXPECTED and uncommon.
I love using luscious gemstones and PRECIOUS METALS in my designs because of how impressively they look and feel… but I believe strongly in keeping my prices fair and reasonable. Outside of my cherished family, designing jewelry is my true PASSION and I feel so honored to have been blessed with this CREATIVE TALENT.
Shelley McCoy . . .
A lifelong Tennessean, Shelley McCoy is a Franklin-based artist whose contemporary technique uses heavy impasto (texture). Through exploring and mixing various mediums and materials, she enhances her work with texture, form and color. Having grown up in rural Paris, she found a natural pull toward creativity and began indulging her passion in high school art classes. Moving to the Grassland area six years ago to a "fixer-upper" renewed her design instincts, as she and her husband spent over a year spackling, priming and painting. Her original artwork became the finishing touch to their new home, complementing the room and yet making its own bold statement. Shortly after, Shelley had her first gallery showing in her hometown and sold 22 of the 25 pieces that afternoon, with eight commissioned pieces on order. Shelley, the mother of two, loves the small town feel of Franklin and is committed to the community through involvement in church, her children's schools and local businesses.
Jamie Burton – Lovely Nest Designs
I am a mother, wife, and child of the King. I am a native of Middle Tennessee and currently live here in Franklin. I have always been a creative person, and I love to find a diamond in the rough. These days my passion is REFASHION. I love the challenge of seeing something not for what it is now, but for what it has the potential to become. My husband doesn’t like for me to admit this, but we’ll just put it all out there….. I can’t quite quell the urge to take a peek inside a dumpster every now and then. You would be shocked at what people throw away! Ninety-nine percent of the materials I use are recycled, right down to the tags and labels. I believe we need to be good stewards of what we’ve been given, and this is one way to do it!
I came into “refashion-ing” almost by accident. In an effort to test new patterns, hone my sewing skills and try out new techniques without breaking the bank, I began using old thrift store sheets, tossed out clothes and found pieces of fabric. The items I ‘up-cycled’ turned out unexpectedly cute! I have always loved the thrill of the hunt and seeing things with different eyes, and I had just stumbled on another way to combine this with my love of sewing!
The challenge of making something beautiful out of something ordinary excites me. It also reminds me that I too am a work in progress! The name ‘Lovely Nest’ came after studying a beautiful bird’s nest I found with my daughter last spring; it was made out of twigs, grass, string, found objects, and ‘repurposed’ treasures, we examined everything. The nest seemed to symbolize exactly what I was doing, so Lovely Nest Designs was born.

Lou Lou Originals by Lee Anne Hagan
in her own words.....
I have been making and creating things for as long as I can remember. My passion is creating beautiful things, starting it with an idea/design and seeing it to fruition. I use natural materials: gemstones, pearls, leather, metal . . . my jewelry is fun and unique . . . my pieces are functional and can be worn with your favorite pair of jeans or dressed up for a night out.
Most of my necklace designs are lariats . . . the lariat is such a versitle piece of jewelry - it can be worn long or short and has different looks depending on how you wrap it. All of the lariats are hand-strung and hand-knotted.
I love using pearls in my designs - each and every pearl is unique, from its color to its shape, and possesses natural beauty . . . just like us.

Harpeth River Furniture
From a small shop in Nolensville an eclectic group of Tennessee artisans work collaboratively to create the finest furniture possible. This ragtag bunch of craftsmen would not make any of the best dressed lists of Nashville. In fact, we try not to ask too many questions about their backgrounds some of them are musicians... Yeah, exactly!
But when it comes to building furniture they are so committed to it that they use only the most beautiful woods, the highest quality hardware, and the best available woodworking techniques. The results are furniture that will instantly become your family heirlooms that will be passed down for generations. In fact, they guarantee all of it for life.
Leigh McGinty - Sorellina Designs
As a child, Leigh always enjoyed painting and creating things. But it was not until she was raising her first child that she recognized her desire to pursue her creative talents professionally. In 1999, she opened Bedbugs & Butterflies, a home-based business that sold custom childrens bedding and art. This company flourished in Memphis for six years before Leigh moved to Franklin in 2005. It was not until she re-opened her business here in 2007 that she noticed a desire to paint some of the beautiful surroundings of Williamson County. The interest in Leighs painted barns, houses and crosses led her to seek formal art instruction in 2008 to enhance her skills. In 2009, she changed her business name to Sorellina Designs to represent the shift in her focus.
Leigh currently lives in the Grassland area with her husband Trey, her three daughters and two dogs (females, too!).
Sorellina (the kid sister in Italian) Designs represents a life journey for Leigh. As the youngest child of four, Leigh has observed and learned from the choices her older siblings have made in this challenging world. In 1989, while Leigh was a student at Rhodes College, she watched her old brother Frank admit himself to an inpatient substance abuse facility for drug addiction. Just a few years later in 1991, Leigh lost her oldest sister Leslie to domestic violence a week after she and her husband were married. These events led Leigh to pursue a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1995 and work in the mental health field. For the past 15 years, she watched her brother struggle with periods of abstinence and drug use and ultimately his untimely death in the fall of 2008.
As the kid sister who so deeply loved her big brother and big sister, Leigh is using her talent to give back to the local community. Five percent of every retail purchase will be given to both Bridges of Williamson County (www.bridgesofwilliamsoncounty.com) and Community Outreach Ministries (www.communityoutreachministries.org) which aid in the fight against domestic violence and substance abuse, in the memory of her brother and sister.

Nicole Bell . . . textiles designer . . . in her own words . . .
I discovered my love for fiber arts in college where I was taught weaving and book making. My passion for batiks started even earlier and I find myself relating all art to this particular process: creating a fluid movement using fragmentation. I love everything that goes into the processes associated with fiber arts, both the physical and mental. The largest joy that I bring from my work is that fiber art is a physical way for people to connect with art. Fiber is something we wear out of both necessity and indulgence. I strive to have my pieces follow both of these contexts, creating something that one cannot only go without but luxuriate in.
Seeing the artist’s hand is what my work strives to show. Little miscues make art unique and it has been a learning experience that nothing can be made exactly the same twice. All of my work is handmade with love and care. Every item is unique in design and feel and is guaranteed a one of a kind that you are certain to cherish.
Kelly Church . . . potter . . . in his own words . . .
My pottery life began at the University of Tennessee at Martin where I became first acquainted with the clay community. I learned the importance of creating material that has personal value that you put part of yourself into.
I enjoy creating both function and non-functional pottery. I hope that my functional pottery will help people put down their mobile devices and laptop computers and enjoy each others company. My non-functional pottery is created in the idea that people, in general, are a curious bunch that try to live rounded lives that are typically closed off at the ends. It's more or less about observation. Please enjoy!
